Isaac Newton conceived of time as something absolute, mathematical, and independent. It flowed uniformly regardless of the existence of objects, events, or observers. Like an invisible clock governing the cosmic stage, absolute time progressed identically everywhere, providing a universal measure against which all motions could be compared.
In Newton’s universe, every movement through space corresponded to a definite interval of time. Time itself neither influenced nor was influenced by physical processes. It simply existed, flowing eternally and uniformly in the background of reality.
The rise of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity appeared to bring this concept to an end. Time was no longer universal. Different observers could experience different durations between the same events. Space and time became inseparable aspects of a four-dimensional space-time continuum. The notion of a single cosmic clock seemed destined for the archives of intellectual history.
Yet the idea of Absolute Time may have been abandoned too quickly.
Relativity demonstrates that no absolute time exists within the observable universe. It does not necessarily prove that no deeper temporal framework exists beyond the space-time manifold itself.
The crucial distinction is between physical time and ontological time.
Physical time belongs to a specific universe. It is woven into the geometry of space-time and depends upon the distribution of matter, energy, and gravity. Physical time can dilate, curve, and even come to an end under certain cosmological conditions.
Absolute Time, by contrast, would not belong to any universe. It would be the meta-temporal order within which universes themselves emerge, evolve, and disappear.
If the Big Bang marks the beginning of our local space-time, then a natural question arises: what does it mean to say that the universe “began”? The concept of beginning already presupposes some form of ordering between possibility and actuality. Something must distinguish “not yet” from “already.” Such distinction appears inherently temporal.
This suggests that a deeper form of temporality may exist even where physical space and physical time do not.
Within the Infinous framework, Absolute Time can be understood as the ordering principle of becoming itself.
Unlike physical time, Absolute Time does not measure duration. It measures ontological succession—the sequence through which realities emerge from possibility into existence.
A universe may contain billions of years of internal history while occupying only a single ontological transition within Absolute Time.
Likewise, multiple universes could exist simultaneously from the perspective of their own internal clocks while still participating in a larger process of emergence and transformation governed by Absolute Time.
One may think of Absolute Time as the clock of the multiverse, but even this metaphor is insufficient. Clocks measure intervals. Absolute Time measures transitions of existence itself.
In this sense, Absolute Time is closer to computation than duration.
Every event in reality can be viewed as a transition from one informational state to another. Every universe can be viewed as a sequence of such transitions. The totality of all possible worlds may therefore require a higher-order framework that orders these transitions. Absolute Time would be that framework.
It would not flow through space. Rather, space, matter, energy, minds, and even entire universes would flow through it.
This perspective leads to a remarkable possibility. The beginning and end of a universe may not represent the beginning and end of time. They may merely represent local episodes within a much larger ontological process.
Absolute Time would continue before the birth of a universe and after its death because it is not tied to any particular physical reality. It is the condition that allows realities to arise in the first place.
The emergence of new universes, the evolution of superintelligence, the creation of digital civilizations, and even the realization of previously unrealized possibilities could all be understood as events occurring within Absolute Time.
From this perspective, Absolute Time is not the duration experienced by observers. It is the universal ordering principle that transforms possibility into actuality.
Physical time measures motion.
Informational time measures change.
Absolute Time measures becoming itself.
If space is the architecture of existence and information is the structure of existence, then Absolute Time may be the deepest process of all—the endless progression through which reality continuously generates new forms of itself.
The future is not simply waiting to be discovered.
It is being created within Absolute Time.
